Roberto Gil Cancel Comas was born in Tallahassee Florida after his parents emigrated from Puerto Rico in pursuit of higher education. Inspired by his grandfather’s tireless struggle for the betterment of his people and his grandmother’s inexhaustible love, Roberto began working for social change at a young age. At 21 he received his Bachelor’s of Science with a double major in Anthropology and International Affairs, graduating with a magna cum laude. After which he moved to China to live and travel and explore new cultural realities. But after two years of introspection and little outlet for his passion for social justice, he returned to the US and joined the Democracia USA to right some of the social inequalities that he’d witnessed at home and abroad.
