Over 100,000 new Hispanic voters registered

(Washington, DC) – Democracia U.S.A., a national non-partisan Hispanic civic engagement program, will announce that it has registered over 100,000 new Hispanic voters in 4 key electoral states. The details surrounding Democracia USA’s voter registration operation will be presented at a press conference this Thursday, October 19th, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC at 1:30 pm. The project’s National Executive Director, Jorge Mursuli, along with pollster Sergio Bendixen, will also explain the impact these new Hispanic voters will have on the electoral landscape for each respective state.
Democracia U.S.A. is a project of People For the American Way Foundation that began in 2004 and successfully registered 72,000 new Hispanic voters in Florida. The project’s mission is to increase the prominence and participation of Hispanics in the American political process through voter registration, leadership training and civic education. In 2006, Democracia U.S.A. was expanded nationally.
