D-USA Registers Hispanic Youth at Rock The Vote Event in Florida International University
Democracia USA collaborated with Rock The Vote and Florida International University’s (FIU) Student Government Association to register Hispanic youth to vote. Democracia USA participated in two consecutive youth outreach events in both University Park and Biscayne Bay campuses along with the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and many presidential candidate campaign camps.
Florida International University students registered to vote and received voter information. Democracia USA’s South Florida Organizer Julio Neira added, “Despite the bad reputation that young people get for not participating in the political process, I was very pleasantly surprised to see so many young students approaching us to get registered and ask questions. Many of them also picked up information from the many candidates represented there. It was very good to see them get involved.”
Democracia USA, Rock The Vote, and FIU’s Student Government Association vowed to continue hosting such events in the future to provide their student body with access to voter information and the American electoral system.
